[ARCHIVED] HURRICANE IRENE IMPACTS NEWTON

10:00am Update - Please be advised that Hurricane Irene has caused significant damage throughout the Town of Newton. Stay off of the roadways unless you are a member of the emergency services personnel. Though it is anticipated that the rain will subside between 10:00am and 1:00pm, there will be significant wind gusts throughout Sunday afternoon and evening.

Volunteers from the Newton Fire Department are working diligently to assist residents with pumpouts as quickly as possible. The Police Department is assisting residents in town with various issues, and the Newton DPW and W/S departments are working around the clock to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the community.

Please contact 9-1-1 if you have an emergency situation in your home. Updates as conditions warrant.

My thanks to all employees and volunteers of the Town of Newton who are working tirelessly to assist our residents and business owners during this weather event.
