The Community Development Department's staff members provide support for the Planning Board, the Zoning Board of Adjustment, the Historic Preservation Advisory Commission, the Advisory Shade Tree Commission and the Advisory Economic Development Commission. The office is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Town's recycling program, the operation of the senior shuttle bus, a Small Cities Housing Rehabilitation Grant, Safe and Secure Grant, and liaison with USDA for funding received for the Public Works Facility and Filtration Plant. This office is also responsible for preparing bid specifications for municipal acquisitions and RFPs (Requests for Proposals) for various professional services required by Newton.
