My thanks to everyone who assisted with the Memorial Day Parade.  It was a great showing for the Town and we received a lot of positive feedback.  Thank you to all staff and volunteers who made this possible.

Newton Day is Saturday, June 8th!  I am still looking for volunteers to manage our Town table.  Please email me if you can assist.

Our next Town Council meeting is Monday, June 10th at 7:00pm.

Summer hours have begun!  Late night Thursdays/early dismissal on Fridays…

Morris Lake was 1 inch over the top of the spillway on 5.27.13.

A reminder that today is the filing deadline for your Financial Disclosure Form.

The closing on the Railroad ROW property occurred on Tuesday.

We are still working through various versions of our Newton jingle for Clear Channel radio.  We have selected our top 3 singers and the lyrics are done.  I will keep you posted.

Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council is working on a grant application for the creation of the County’s first cultural center, to be located in downtown Newton!  We are supportive of this application and see it as an excellent opportunity to further facilitate the items discussed as part of our visioning sessions and marketing endeavors.

V&K is progressing with the Lower Spring Street Beautification project.  The work should be completed by the end of June.

I had a productive meeting with Redeemer Lutheran this week to provide feedback on their strategic planning and also to facilitate ideas on how their congregants can continue to support the Town of Newton (they have been gracious supporters of Neighbors Helping Neighbors).

Today I facilitated a Marketing meeting with staff to discuss various businesses and enterprises that we would like to come to Newton.  We will be inviting them to an event in the fall to keep our redevelopment efforts moving along.

Tonight I will be hosting the annual Miss Newton Contest at PSS.  My thanks to Kerry and Suzie and the Recreation Commission for their efforts!

Stay safe and have a great weekend!
