I will briefly review the items on the Reorganization Meeting agenda for you.
INVOCATION/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE/OPMA
Deacon Thomas Zayac of St. Joseph’s RC Church will perform the invocation.
OATH OF OFFICE FOR NEWLY ELECTED OFFICIALS/ROLL CALL
The first order of business will be the swearing in of the newly elected officials. Sanford Hollander, Esq. will swear-in Sandra Lee Diglio, Thomas Prol, Esq. will swear-in Jason J. Schlaffer and Lorraine A. Read, RMC will swear in Matthew S. Dickson.
DESIGNATION OF TEMPORARY MAYOR
The next order of business is the Council will designate a temporary chairperson to oversee the meeting.
NOMINATION AND SELECTION OF MAYOR
Lorraine will swear-in our new Mayor.
NOMINATION AND SELECTION OF DEPUTY MAYOR
Lorraine will swear in our new Deputy Mayor.
COMMENTS BY TOWN MANAGER, COUNCIL MEMBERS, AND MAYOR
Resolution #140-2018* will reaffirm the banks designated to be used as depositories of municipal funds.
Resolution #141-2018* will reaffirm the newspapers to be used for the publication of legal advertisements and designate TAPinto Newton as our official electronic news source.
Resolution #142-2018* will reaffirm the regular meetings of the Governing Body to be held on the second and fourth Monday of each month (unless otherwise noted) for the remainder of the year.
Resolution #143-2018* will designate Town officials who are authorized to sign checks for the municipality.
Resolution #144-2018* will reaffirm that the CFO and/or Finance Director is the individual authorized to sell Bond Anticipation Notes.
Resolution #145-2018* will appoint the Mayor as a Class I member of the Planning Board.
Resolution #146-2018* is the appointment of the Class III member to the Planning Board. By ordinance this must be a member of the Town Council, traditionally it is the Deputy Mayor.
Resolution #147-2018* will name the Town Manager as the Hearing Officer in all matters of dispute.
Resolution #148-2018* will appoint members to the Ad Hoc Redevelopment Team.
Resolution #149-2018* will appoint Councilman Schlaffer as the Town Council liaison on the Economic Development Advisory Commission.
Resolution #150-2018* will appoint Councilwoman Diglio as the Town Council liaison to the Historic Preservation Advisory Commission.
Resolution #151-2018* will confirm and establish petty cash and change funds.
Resolution #152-2018* will appoint Councilman Dickson as the Town Council liaison to the Newton Board of Education.
Resolution #153-2018* will provide an emergency appropriation for the upcoming Special Election on July 31st.
Resolution #154-2018* will approve bills and vouchers for payment.
The Mayor will appoint the Town Manager as a Class II representative to the Planning Board.
