APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Lorraine’s office has prepared the minutes from the January 7th, Reorganization and January 13th Special and Regular meetings for your consideration and approval.
The Mayor will present the winners of the Holiday Decorating Contest with a prize.
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
This is for those that wish to address the Town Council but do not plan on staying for the whole meeting. There is a note to the public on the agenda to please keep their comments to a maximum of 5 minutes and limited to one turn at the microphone. This allows ample time for all whom wish to speak and keeps the meeting moving forward. The public can speak on any matter. Council may choose to comment after the entire public portion has concluded.
COUNCIL & MANAGER REPORTS
Each Councilmember can give an update on various items or Board/Commission actions that have taken place recently.
There are two ordinances for 2nd Reading and Public Hearing:
Ordinance 2020-1 will authorize appropriating $450,000 from the Capital Reserve for the Grit Collector replacement.
Ordinance 2020-2 will adopt the amendment to the Paterson Avenue Redevelopment Plan.
Resolution #52-2020* will cancel outstanding checks in the Municipal Court accounts.
Resolution #53-2020* will authorize the permit application for Thorlabs for the NJDEP Treatment Works Approval.
Resolution #54-2020* will appoint the Deputy Municipal Public Defender.
Resolution #55-2020* will authorize credits due water and sewer utility accounts.
Resolution #56-2020* authorizes the payout of vacation and sick time for Lt. Mark Zappa.
Resolution #57-2020* authorizes the payout of vacation time for Chief Michael Richards.
Resolution #58-2020* will authorize a final Change Order for the Firehouse #2.
Resolution #59-2020* will authorize a Strategic Plan for the Municipal Alliance grant.
Resolution #60-2020* will renew the junk dealer’s license for George’s Salvage.
Resolution #61-2020* will renew the junk dealer’s license for Newton Auto Exchange.
Resolution #62-2020* will approve bills and vouchers for payment.

THE WEEK IN REVIEW
Morris Lake is 1 inch above the top of the spillway as of January 20, 2020.
We had a very productive planning meeting with our friends at SCCC regarding the redevelopment of the McGuire’s Chevrolet dealership property.
We are working on enhanced marketing efforts to fill commercial vacancies on Spring Street.
Routine business discussed at our first NJMEBF meeting in Randolph.
We received four (4) bids for the renovations to the Newton Pool. The engineer and QPA will make recommendation of award for our next meeting.
