Our next Council meeting is Wednesday, September 12th @ 7:00pm.

The Morris Lake Reservoir was 23 inches below the top of the spillway on 8.27.12.  The Drought Alert is still in effect.

The Maple Avenue watermain installation project has been completed and has passed the appropriate bacteria testing.  Next week we will begin the process of connecting the 23 services.

Thank you to everyone who assisted in the preparation and planning for the Employee Appreciation Party.  Everyone had a great time at the pool and the Fire Department won bragging rights (for this year) with a close 16-15 victory at the inaugural Town of Newton softball event!

The DPW has continued their work on various line painting projects throughout the town.

Tickets are now available from the Greater Newton Chamber of Commerce for the annual Taste of Newton event – Monday, September 10, 2012 at 7pm.  Hope to see all of you there for some exceptional food and beverage!

The Council received their new laptops and has gone paperless as of the next Council meeting.  My thanks to Terri and Jim for their assistance at the recent training session.

The Town received proposals back for our Banking Services RFP.  We will make a recommendation for award shortly.

We are commencing with discussions regarding the Vision Plan Update.  Jessica Caldwell and Stu Koperweis will be meeting with us this Thursday to develop our timeline and gameplan.

The Newton School District is inviting all employees to the unveiling of their new turf field at Newton High School on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 9:45am.  There will be multiple games played on the field that day.

The Town has submitted an application for the Governor’s Excellence Award – Public/Private Economic Development Partnership – for our work on the Thorlabs project.  I will keep you posted if we receive good news!

Enjoy your holiday weekend!  Summer is almost over!  School is back in session – drive safely!
