11.1.12 - 11:15am UPDATE

Posted on November 1, 2012 at 11:17 AM by Thomas Russo, Jr.

Portions of the town are still without power.  JCP&L is advising that it may be 7-10 days or longer for power to return.  Please be patient.

If you experience a power outage, please contact JCP&L directly at 1-888-544-4877.  Stay away from all downed power lines as you must assume they are live and dangerous.  Calling JCP&L directly allows them to best track the outages and plan the most efficient restoration process.

If you have any emergencies, please call 9-1-1.

Fuel for vehicles remains in very limited supply.  Do not go out unless you have to - many traffic lights are still out so please treat every intersection as a four-way stop.

Halloween has been rescheduled by Governor Chris Christie for Monday, November 5, 2012.  The annual Newton Halloween parade will be held that day at 6:00pm.

Updates as conditions warrant.
