EV Charging Station

Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Newton

In January of 2024, the Town of Newton unveiled two public electric vehicle charging stations located in Municipal Parking Lot #4 Central Plaza (36 Trinity Street, Newton, NJ 07860). These charging stations utilized three different grants from the NJDEP, NJPU, and JCP&L. Both chargers are integrated DC fast Chargepoint+ chargers that have CCS Combo and Chademo adapters. You can view more information on these chargers here.

Benefits of Electric Vehicles

Fuel Economy - Most plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) achieve combined fuel economy ratings higher than 90 mpge (miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent). All-electric vehicles achieve fuel economy ratings higher than 100 mpge.

Emissions ReductionsPHEVs (in electric-only mode) and all-electric vehicles produce no tailpipe emissions. PHEVs produce less than half the emissions compared to conventional vehicles, and all-electric vehicles produce one-third the emissions.

Fuel Cost Savings - For PHEVs (in electric-only mode), costs range from $0.03 - $0.36 per mile. For all-electric vehicles costs range from $0.02 - $0.06 per mile.

Fueling Flexibility - PHEVs and all-electric vehicles can charge at home, public charging stations, and some workplaces. PHEVs can fuel at gas stations.
