FEBRUARY 23, 2026 MEETING
2/23/2026 - INTRODUCTION - Ordinance 2026-8 - This Ordinance will allow the Town to increase its 2026 budget by up to 3.5% over previous year’s final appropriations, in the interest of promoting the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens.
2/23/2026 - ADOPTION - Ordinance 2026-4 - This ordinance adopts a comprehensive affordable housing ordinance to comply with New Jersey's Fair Housing Act and court requirements.
2/23/2026 - ADOPTION - Ordinance 2026-3 - This Ordinance amends a previous ordinance to make only part of Linwood Annex a one-way street (southbound from Church Street to Division Street), while returning the section from Division Street to Liberty Street to two-way traffic.
2/23/2026 - ADOPTION - Ordinance 2026-2 - This Ordinance establishes four-way stop signs at two intersections: Moran Street and East Clinton Street, and Merriam Avenue and Paterson Avenue.
2/23/2026 - ADOPTION - ORDINANCE 2026-1 - The Ordinance authorizes the sale of the former National Guard Armory property to Newton 213 Urban Renewal, LLC for $413,126 to redevelop the site into a shopping center with an 80,000+ square foot ShopRite supermarket, liquor store, and retail buildings. The developer will assume responsibility for cleaning up environmental contamination on the property, with the State first deeding the land back to the Town before it's immediately transferred to the developer.

2/09/2026 - INTRODUCTION - Ordinance 2026-7 - This ordinance amends the Merriam Gateway Redevelopment Plan after review by the Planning Board and is consistent with the Town's Master Plan.
2/09/2026 - INTRODUCTION - Ordinance 2026-6 - This ordinance amends the Paterson Avenue Redevelopment Plan after review by the Planning Board and is consistent with the Town's Master Plan.
2/09/2026 - INTRODUCTION - Ordinance 2026-5 - This ordinance amends its SD-9 Planned Neighborhood Development Zone to establish new bulk requirements.
